Week 2 Philadelphia 7:30 p.m.
Week 3 at Carolina 7:30 p.m.
Week 4 at New York Giants 7 p.m.

Here’s an early look at how the Patriots Football Game 2018-19 regular season could pan out with the draft approaching.

Week 1: vs Texans

The New England Patriots will be dealing with a new left tackle, and if they move Marcus Cannon across the offense line, then they’ll also be dealing with a new right tackle, too. Bad timing. Jadeveon Clowney, J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus can make things get ugly. Previously, the Houston Texans (and others) have attacked the interior of the New England Patriots offensive line. Without proper protection on the outside, they’ll attack at will. What’s more, the New England Patriots have showed no signs of being able to stop an elusive quarterback like Deshaun Watson. Patriots may get the better of Houston Texans in the playoffs, but in Week 1, the Patriots can’t get a win.

Prediction: Loss | 0-1

Week 2: at Jaguars

After a dysfunctional offseason where Tom Brady and Bill Belichick had something of a stand-down, the New England Patriots could face their toughest AFC opponents in the first two weeks. And Patriots builds for the playoffs — not Weeks 1 and 2. So it stands to reason that they’ll fall to both teams. Again, they’ll probably be ready to beat them in the playoffs. But Belichick will be fine-tuning his roster. After two weeks, he’ll be on to Detroit.

Prediction: Loss | 0-2

Week 3: at Lions

The healing begins when Belichick betters Matt Patricia.

The Detroit Lions should be an excellent team under their new skipper, but the New England Patriots will come out of this three-game stretch with at least one win — and of course, they could win all three. Though talented, the Detroit Lions remain unproven. While Patricia is cutting his teeth, Belichick eats.

Prediction: Win | 1-2

Week 4: vs Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins may be getting their quarterback Ryan Tannehill back from injury. But they may also be adding another one in the draft. That’s enough evidence that Tannehill’s value to the team isn’t enormous. They may be changing the culture, but until Belichick and Brady retire, things won’t change. The Miami Dolphins at Gillette means a win for Patriots.

Prediction: Win | 2-2

Week 5: vs Colts

The New England Patriots wouldn’t mind seeing Jacoby Brissett, but Andrew Luck has to be ready by this point, right? Even with Luck, the Colts may be one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL. They don’t have a lot of talent to surround him. He won’t fix all their problems.

Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard may think the rivalry is “back on.” And maybe it is for the Colts. But the New England Patriots are going to be a better team next year.

Prediction: Win | 3-2

Week 6: vs Chiefs

For many of the same reasons that the New England might lose to the Texans, Patriots will be vulnerable heading into Week 6. How settled is the New England defense? How settled is their offensive line? I’d guess things will start to fall into place under Brian Flores and Belichick on defense. The left tackle situation might also begin to improve at this point.

The New England get revenge for the embarrassing 2017 season-opener. And while New England’s defense will downplay it, the starters will be largely the same with one or two exceptions.

Prediction: Win | 4-2

Week 7: at Bears

A Bears upset? Not going to happen. The New England take care of business at home against a lowly Bears team.

Prediction: Win | 5-2

Week 8: at Bills

Again, the Patriots take care of an AFC East opponent at home. Whether Patriots is looking at AJ McCarron, Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, they’re not going to have trouble dispatching the Buffalo Bills.

Prediction: Win | 6-2

Week 9: vs Packers

This is the point in the season when the Patriots begin to look their best. With home field advantage, Patriots and Brady will come away with a win over Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. It will likely come down to who has the ball on the final possession. And Stephen Gostkowski will finish off the Green Bay in a thriller (which NFL Network will replay with regularity in the 2019 offseason).

Prediction: Win | 7-2

Week 10: at Titans

After a huge win over the Green Bay, the New England will disappoint in Tennessee. Titans rookie coach Mike Vrabel will continue to exploit Patriots’s inability to manage mobile quarterbacks with Marcus Mariota. Malcolm Butler and Dion Lewis can get some revenge. And the Tennessee can enter the conversation as a dark horse contender in the AFC.

Prediction: Loss | 7-3

*Week 11: BYE WEEK*

Week 12: at Jets

Again, Allen, Mayfield, Rosen or Darnold? Doesn’t matter. Belichick will take care of whatever rookie has supplanted Josh McCown or Teddy Bridgewater. Even if McCown plays, the New England are coming off a bye. They’ll do OK in New Jersey.

Prediction: Win | 8-3

Week 13: vs Vikings

The Minnesota could be terrifyingly good with Kirk Cousins at the helm. At this point in the season, the Minnesota will be clicking on offense and defense — even more so than the New England. Vikings goes into Foxborough and hands it to the Patriots, who are left to recalibrate for what they hope to be a deep playoff run.

Prediction: Loss | 8-4

Week 14: at Dolphins

The Miami play the New England tough in Miami, but if Patriots loses against Vikings, they’re absolutely winning this game — maybe by 14. The New England are, by far, the most talented team in the AFC East.

Prediction: Win | 9-4

Week 15: at Steelers

Again, the Pittsburgh lose their Super Bowl at Heinz Field. It’s not a foregone conclusion. Steelers will be an excellent team in 2018. But when playoff jockeying begins, the New England rarely give an inch. This one won’t be as close as last season. (How could it be?)

Prediction: Win | 10-4

Week 16: vs Bills

The New England get a chance to run up the score after they’ve turned into a well-oiled machine. The offensive line woes will improve significantly. Julian Edelman will begin to look like he never suffered an ACL injury. Gronk will Gronk. The defense will galvanize. We won’t have heard rumblings of dissent between Belichick and Brady in weeks.

Prediction: Win | 11-4

Week 17: vs Jets

Another easy win at home. The New York will be thinking ahead to free agency and the draft. They’ll probably start their rookie quarterback if they didn’t go to him already. The New England will need the win for playoff seeding. And they’ll coast to victory.

Prediction: Win | 12-4
